CCL launches Covid-19 testing service for Cambridgeshire care homes
Cambridge Clinical Laboratories (CCL), based in Milton, Cambridge, has been approved by NHS England & Improvement, and contracted by Department of Health and Social Care, to provide testing services for Covid-19 antigen testing as part of the governments initiative to increase testing in the UK. CCL will initially be offering their services primarily to Cambridgeshire care homes and care home workers.
CCL is a small private clinical testing lab who routinely works with the NHS and private healthcare providers in the fields of virology and oncology.
About the test:
They will offer the PCR antigen test. This will determine whether a person has an active COVID-19 infection and should be isolated.

As demand grows for the testing service the CCL team will expand to ensure we can support more people. The decision to initially support care homes is an intentional one, supporting our region’s most vulnerable. CCL will still be supplying a top-quality service to our oncology and virology service customers alongside the Covid-19 work.”
CCL has been awarded this contract through the Covid-19 Volunteer Testing Network. The mission of the group is to regularly test all front-line healthcare staff for COVID-19. The government is rapidly expanding the official testing programme and the Covid-19 Volunteer Testing Network is supplementing that effort by utilising smaller laboratories to conduct testing. Please note:
There is currently no provision for testing to private individuals. CCL will work directly with registered healthcare professionals such as nurses, GP’s, clinics and hospitals only.
